Robert Westall Trail

A year after Robert Westall's death in 1993 North Tyneside Libraries, under the auspices of North Tyneside Council, decided to inaugurate The Robert Westall Trail, to commemorate him and his books. Many of his stories have local settings and capture vividly the atmosphere, voices and landmarks of Tyneside. The Westall Trail highlights many major landmarks and visits some of the locations found in the books. The Trail starts at 7, Vicarage Street, North Shields at the unpretentious house where Robert was born in 1929 and upon which North Tyneside Council have put up a blue plaque.

Below is the original Robert Westall trail map. Click on the map to see an enlarged version. You can then save the enlarged version and print out your own copy.
